Research has shown that a dog harness is better for your dog's health. In the long run, your dog can be harmed by the use of a collar, especially dogs that pull heavily on the leash. Your dog may suffer from neck or back problems.
If your dog pulls at the leash or you as the owner want to correct your dog by means of a jerk at the leash, the neck will get a blow, which can cause a neck injury. Think of bruises, headaches, shifting of neck vertebrae, damage to the larynx and trachea. So a dog harness is a good alternative to a collar.
Eén of the main advantages of a dog harness is that the pressure on the dog's body is better distributed across his chest, making it less harmful to your dog when he pulls on the leash.
Your dog may be able to apply more force with a harness, but ...every dog must be taught to walk with you without pulling on the leash, regardless of whether they wear a collar or harness.
Does your dog go with you in the car? Make sure your dog always wears a harness when you put him in a car seat or belt. We do not recommend to fasten the dog to the collar. In an emergency stop, a harness distributes the pressure over the entire chest and sternum of the dog. With just a collar, the neck can be very severely stressed in an emergency stop.
Because there are many different dogs you will find in our webshop also different types of dog harnesses. There is not ééone harness that fits every dog.
For a correct size measure the chest size of your dog. You will find a size chart with all our dog harnesses. Make sure you always have a little wiggle room in the harness when determining the size.
If a harness is too tight for your dog it can cause chafing or cuts under your dog's armpits for example.
Take into account also whether your puppy is still growing or not. So there are also harnesses that can grow with your dog so they do not grow out too quickly. So it varies per dog which harness suits him or her best.
